French Teacher Madame Adams takes on a new responsibility by taking control of the Culinary Club. Adams is a dedicated and hardworking teacher in charge of the French Honor Society and is excited to pursue a new role. She is an excellent person to assume this position due to her passion for food and dependability. She believes cooking and baking are hobbies that effectively bring people together and spread joy. With their newly acquired culinary skills, members can foster greater connections with their family and friends in social settings.
Meetings will be held once a month and are expected to run from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., ensuring there is enough time for cleanup at the end. Adams would also like to meet throughout the year for special celebrations and holidays during lunch in addition to the monthly meetings. Participants are not expected to be fully knowledgeable of cooking and baking and are welcome to attend with however little or much they know about preparing food. It may be daunting to make something for the first time, but Adams urges that it is crucial to be gentle with yourself and willing to try regardless of the outcome.
Adams says that “students will have a choice between two recipes.” These recipes will be given ahead of time to students, granting them time to choose which one they are interested in making. The recipes will range from savory to sweet foods and may incorporate foods from different cultures for students to prepare. If time permits, students may also learn mini-lessons about basic culinary skills, such as the proper technique for chopping various foods or how to whisk eggs in preparation for an omelet while they wait for their food to be cooked.
In regards to what cooking equipment is available, students will have access to an oven, a range, a handheld mixer, a stand-up mixer, a fridge, and a microwave. This equipment will be useful in allowing students to prepare a variety of foods. Adams will also obtain additional supplies such as molds necessary to certain recipes.
Through this club, Adams intends to give back to the community by organizing a fundraiser and collecting items for a local food pantry. Thus, as students learn how to cook or hone their skills, they can also be a part of a greater cause. This club is a great opportunity for students to get involved in extracurricular activities at their school and work towards improving their knowledge in the kitchen. Students engaged in this club will have the privilege of being led by a competent and considerate leader, guiding them through enhancing their culinary skills in a fun, open environment.
