The KHS wrestling team is off to an impressive start this season, still undefeated with a record of 5-0 and filled with talented athletes. Freshman varsity wrestler Lucas DiLorenzo expresses confidence, saying, “It is going very well so far, and we’re going to beat Mountain Lakes.” Sophomore varsity wrestler Xavier Garcia adds, “It’s good. I like it, and I hope we win.” Head wrestling coach Anthony Collabella reflects on the team’s performance, stating, “Right now, we are 5-0. They’re wrestling well, there is a lot of confidence among the wrestlers, and the goal is to win the conference and qualify for the states.”
Last season was challenging for KHS wrestling, finishing with a record of 5-15, and the year before that, 5-16. However, this year’s team is determined to change the narrative. The team consists of four seniors: Luke Baitzel, Koran Hinton, Jack Doty, and Otillio Pena. Senior wrestler Koran Hinton emphasizes their dedication, saying, “We have been working really hard in practice; we have been consistent and putting in the effort.”
With the strength and support of their coaches, athletes, and captains, the Kinnelon wrestling team is poised to achieve greater success this winter than ever before.
