KHS’s Graphic Novel Class Announced to Start Next School Year

a Graphic Novels class will arrive at KHS for the first time in the school’s history within the English department

In many ways, graphic novels are integral to the world’s creative industries, representing superheroes, anime/manga, and various other genres. The English department at KHS has aimed to integrate graphic novels into a half-year elective class for students to broaden their understanding of literature.

The medium of graphic novels is unique in its combination of both artistry and writing and has been a class that English teacher Jason Delpiano has kept his eyes on throughout his career, “I had such a wonderful experience reading comics when I was younger, and that has carried into my adulthood. That love combined with what I perceived as a missing elective component within the English Department, is really what sparked the proposal. We offer literature and art courses, but nothing until now that spans both worlds”.

The first thing that the course will cover next year is an ideas pitch where students will create hypothetical superheroes necessary in the current decade. Delpiano will be running the course and will have the class open to all students with or without prior knowledge of graphic novels.

Butler Art Class Provides Students With Opportunities For Art Exploration And Participation in Art Shows

G & S Graphics Fine Art Instructions continues to operate as a popular art institution within Butler

In Main Street, Butler, G & S Graphics Fine Art Instructions delivers four classes a week for 2 hours of instruction to its students. The students within the art class run by art instructor Seanna have won various awards and participated in numerous art shows, with some being awarded scholarships at places such as Morris County Tech.

The class has maintained a consistent tuition for the sake of affordability for students and provides art supplies ranging from watercolors to shading pencils. Seanna claims, “I have been teaching for 40+ years. My classes have been built by advertising and, most importantly, word of mouth. It’s hard to build a business from the ground up”.

The art class operates on 164 Main Street, Butler, and is open to the student’s ideas and working in various mediums given the plethora of materials provided for working.
