Kicking off February by hosting the best Super Bowl is the perfect way to pump up the energy for 2025. Super Bowl LIX will be on Feb. 9, 2025, at Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans, with a kickoff scheduled at 6:30 p.m. ET. From watching as a die-hard football fan or just viewing for the commercials and halftime show, hosting the perfect Super Bowl party requires a lot of effort and strategic planning but starting early is the way to go.
The first step is to begin planning at least a week in advance. To make the night unforgettable, making a list of friends and family to send creative invitations is important. However, make sure to consider space and budget when creating a list. Invitations can be through text, email, or physical cards. Include key details, like the date, time, address, and what to bring. Free websites like canva provide affordable ways to create cute invitations that can easily be sent out. By using one of Canva’s already-made templates it makes invitations cheap and easy.
Junior Olivia Bsales says, “My birthday is super close to the Super Bowl, so I usually like to host the Super Bowl party. I am always on point with invitations too because it’s almost like a part of my birthday party.”
The next step is planning out a variety of foods and beverages to serve to the guests. Include some easy finger foods, and chips, but still make sure to consider any food allergies or dietary restrictions. The beverages should also be stored in cool spaces. And prepare some main courses earlier in the day that can later be re-heated when it’s time to eat.
Junior Ryan Caamano says “I’m never the person to host a Superbowl party but the food is honestly what makes or breaks the party. If the food is good you best believe I’ll be talking about it for days, if it’s really good, I might even sneak some leftovers home with me.”
Aside from killer foods and drinks, decorations are also important to keep the guests talking about a party for days. Nearby stores typically have Superbowl decorations selling months before the Superbowl actually takes place. Getting the decorations sooner than later will save time, and ensure good decor. Make sure to decorate with team colors using balloons, tablecloths, and streamers. Along with anything football-related. For example, football-shaped plates are a great way to incorporate cute decorations.
Jenna Triano a Kinnelon resident says, “Whenever I host the Superbowl party for my family, I love to use the cutest decorations. I always find a way to use decorations even when there’s no holidays approaching, because they add such a cute atmosphere. And they make watching the game even better.”
Places like Joannes and Walmart have art supplies that can turn Super Bowl decorations into a fun craft. Triano likes to get her pre-made decorations from places like Hobby Lobby and a more affordable option the dollar store.
And lastly, there are a few things to check before guests arrive. Also, try to create as many viewing areas as possible. It is important that everyone has a comfortable seat, so set up many seats around the television. Since there are going to be many people make sure there is also enough space for parking.
Hosting a Superbowl party is all about creativity, and strategy, but most importantly about bonding. Following these few steps and tips will be key to the perfect party. This simple gathering will go way beyond watching a game, making an unforgettable night.
