With graduation around the corner, seniors at Kinnelon High School are saying their final goodbyes, reflecting on the past four years, and decorating their graduation caps in many creative ways.
Over the years, decorating caps has evolved into a fun tradition for seniors to express themselves. For many, these caps symbolize their journey throughout high school and the exciting paths in their future.
For most seniors at KHS, these cap designs are all about showcasing their next step for college. “Since I’m going to the University of Alabama for college, I had the idea to paint the school logo and elephant mascot, and then decorate it with red and white and glitter,” said senior Ali Corrado, who is excited about her future as a college student.
All students create different, unique designs. Through the designs, it also shows the journey these students experienced over the past four years. Each cap tells a story about the student’s growth and what’s to come in the future. Many others also shared their ideas and excitement about their next chapter.
For many seniors, these graduation caps aren’t only about the future, but a celebration of the memories they have created throughout high school. It is a time for friends to come together for the last time before they head off to college.
“My friends and I are turning this into a wholesome senior activity by getting together and decorating our caps together with our future colleges,” said Corrado. This experience is bittersweet and should be something all graduates participate in. These memories last a lifetime and should not be taken for granted.
Graduation is a huge milestone and a chapter completed for students, considering most have been in grade school their whole lives. “I was so happy with how my cap came out, and after experiencing my first year at Arizona State University, I had a great freshman year and met so many new people. I will forever cherish the pictures from graduation last year, and decorating my cap was a good decision because it truly does give you a glimpse of your future, even if it’s just a little college logo,” said KHS alumnus Madison Bsales. These caps can be held onto forever and serve as a reminder of your big accomplishments in life.
As the seniors prepare for the next chapter of their lives, these graduation caps are more than just a symbol of high school, but a glimpse into the future. This tradition makes graduation more special, and these creative caps will forever be a cherished part of the graduation experience.
