If you have opened TikTok or Instagram in the past year, you have likely seen at least one video praising the Rhode Peptide Glazing Fluid. From “glazed donut skin” claims to endless “get ready with me” routines, the serum has quickly become one of the most talked-about products in the skincare industry.
Many influencers credit Hailey Bieber, the founder of Rhode, with the level of the product’s success.
“Hailey did her big one with this product,” said TikTok influencer and product reviewer Ryan Monique.
But many question if it actually works, or if it is simply another overhyped influencer product.
The serum was released as part of Bieber’s debut brand lineup for the company Rhode Skin on Jun. 15, 2022. It was released alongside the Barrier Restore Cream and Peptide Lip Treatment. At first glance, the serum has a sleek, modern aesthetic. The gray and white color palette gives the product a distinctly “clean” look.
In the travel size, the serum contains 0.5 fl oz, while the full size has 1.7 fl oz. Other products in the collection, including the Barrier Restore Cream, offer travel sizes in the 0.5–1.0 fl oz range as well. The bottle design is distinctive, featuring a rounded base and cap with a subtle silver cutout of the cap for added visual interest.
The serum retails for $20 in the travel size and $32 in the large size. The prices of the serum can be considered affordable compared to other serums in the beauty industry.
The serum’s packaging is lightweight, making it easy to pack into any bag for travel. At the same time, it feels sturdy and durable, able to withstand drops, and includes a leak-protective design.
KHS freshman Skylar Evertz says, “I have dropped that serum a million times, and it’s never broken.”
The spout where the product is dispensed is somewhat small but still functional. A larger design might be more visually appealing, but it does not affect the product’s performance.
The serum is intended to be used after morning and evening cleansing and should be applied to the face and neck using two to three pumps each time.
The product itself has a milky-white color and a light gel texture. Once rubbed in, it immediately leaves a shiny, glossy finish on the skin. It is fragrance-free and fit for sensitive skin types. After application, the product leaves a slight sticky feel, but that sensation fades after about five to ten minutes. The shine, however, remains and illuminates skin for nearly six hours before a noticeable difference.
KHS student Gabriella Covello says, “This is one of my favorite Rhode products; it’s a staple in my routine.”
The Rhode Peptide Glazing Fluid lived up to its viral reputation. The lightweight formula, long-lasting shine, and clean, modern packaging help it stand out from other serums on the market. While the initial stickiness may bother some, it fades quickly and leaves behind a smooth, hydrated finish. For anyone who loves a natural, glazed glow without heavy fragrance or a thick product feel, this serum is a definite buy.
