As Virgil once said, “The greatest wealth is health.”

Fortunately, one club at the high school is educating and raising awareness about health: the Health Professions Club.

This club is run by science teacher Dr. Wendy Bruffy, along with president Brianna Wittig and vice president Stephen Jacobus.

The Health Professions Club held an event on Jan. 27 in the gymnasium of the high school. The event was held to educate children under the age of 13 about good health and also was a good option for parents wanting a night off. “

There were stations ranging from healthy cookbooks to a balanced plate. A table included stickers with dairy, meat, vegetables, fruit and whole grain items which displayed a healthy diet. All activities were hands-on and interactive with the children. Volunteers helped the kids through the stations, but ultimately the children were able to learn and do the activities independently. The children could also choose freeze dance, hula hooping, basketball, or even karate.
