Ava Gutkin, Editor-in-Chief
Ava is the Editor-in-Chief of the Colt Chronicle and a junior at KHS. She is passionate about telling stories that matter and having a direct impact on her community, particularly through reporting on local and school news. Ava hopes to make the paper a source for important stories and create conversation within the area. She won the honorable mention award (2024) and second place (2025) at the GSSPA “On the Spot” Writing Contest, third place in newswriting for her article “The Chill Zone: A Solution to Student Stress” in 2025, and was a speaker at the GSSPA 2025 Fall Conference at Rutgers University. She also received an honorable mention in the Region-at-Large East (Northeast United States) writing competition. In addition, she was recently selected for the GSSPA All-Star Journalism team, being one of 16 in the state this year.
